Giant panda pair from Chengdu, China, Fu Wa and Feng Yi were flown to Malaysia, on loan for 10 years.

During that time, Malaysia will pay some RM3 million to China a year lending fee.

An estimated RM25 million had also been spent on constructing an enclosure for the pandas at the National Zoo, involving a special exhibit area of 1.6 hectares.

On July 25, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced a name change for the panda pair. The male panda Fu Wa has been renamed to Xing Xing which means 'prosperity' while Feng Yi's new name is Liang Liang, which signifies 'beauty'.

Here are some interesting facts on the endangered and protected animal.
