The PAS-led Kelantan state government appreciated all the cooperation and assistance provided by the Federal government in helping the state deal with the massive floods recently.

Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said the spirit of cooperation between the two governments was at its best than ever before.

"We are very grateful for the support provided by the federal government and hope this partnership can be enhanced," he said in a Wacana Sinar discourse titled "Post-Flood Kelantan, PAS and Umno Heart to Heart Discussion to Redevelop Kelantan" at the Karangkraf Media Group Complex, here on Thursday.

Besides Mohd Amar, Kelantan UMNO Information chief Datuk Md Alwi Che Ahmad and Kelantan socio-political analyst Dr Kamarul Zaman Yusuf were also panelists at the forum organised by veteran journalist and former politician Tan Sri Abdullah Ahmad.

Mohd Amar said he was aware that the state government on its own would not have been able to fully restore the state without the cooperation from various parties, especially the federal government.

Meanwhile, Mohd Amar when asked about the cooperation between UMNO and PAS after the floods, said, "in this post-flood discussions, political issues are never discussed, the main focus of discussion is only on repairing the houses of flood victims and infrastructure that has been destroyed.

"However, PAS' doors are open to any discussion on Islam and national issues because we believe this is above politics."
