There is no change in the number of flood evacuees in Sarawak this morning from last night, with 161 evacuees at two relief centres in Betong and 52 evacuees at one relief centre in Sibu.

A Sarawak National Security Council spokesman said many areas in the Betong division were still inundated due to the high tide phenomenon, causing river water to overflow.

He said the situation in several areas in the division had not changed much with intermittent rain occurring and some low-lying areas still inundated.

The spokesman said the weather improved in the Sibu division and more flood evacuees could be expected to return home today.

He said eight schools were closed this morning in areas such as Sibu, Mukah, Selangau and Dalat.
