The number of evacuees in flood-hit Sarawak rose this afternoon to 1,326 compared to 1,153 in the morning, and two relief centres were opened to accommodate the new evacuees.

A spokesman of the Sarawak National Security Council (NSC) said all the 392 families were being accommodated at eight relief centres, including the two opened today in Sibu.

The Sibu relief centres house 227 evacuees from 45 families from Rumah Janting and Rumah Gansau in the Selangau district.

The number of evacuees in Bintulu remained at 744 from 245 families; Samarahan, 54; Mukah, 66 and Limbang, 235.

In SABAH, a spokesman of the Beaufort flood operations room said the number of evacuees this afternoon remained at 47 from 10 families, all housed at the Membakut new hall.
