The number of flood victims who are still placed in two flood relief centres in Sarawak remain at 54 from 13 families.

A National Security Council (NSC) spokesman said 30 people from six families were placed at the Beluru community hall in Bakong, Miri while another 24 people from seven families were at the Sebauh community hall in Bintulu.

Meanwhile, the Bintulu Resident office's flood operation room spokesman Abu Bakar Matnor told Bernama that three areas affected by the floods were Jalan Sebauh Pandan, Sungai Segawan and Kampung Ulu Sebauh.

He said the areas concerned had been cut off since this evening following heavy rainfall, but as of now, no new victims had been relocated as their homes were still safe.

Meanwhile, the Beluru sub-district office's flood operation room spokesman said that the water level around Kampung Setinggan Beluru, Bakong in Miri division had receded to 4.25m Saturday night (as at 8.30pm) compared to 4.26m reported earlier Saturday evening.

However, he said that the intermittent heavy rains did not guarantee the water level would continue to go down.

He said all the victims in relief centres had been supplied with enough food by the Sarawak Social Welfare Department.

Besides that, he said rescue teams were also camping in flooded areas, in case there were victims who needed to be relocated.
