The flood situation in Limbang division, Sarawak worsened tonight with the number of evacuees relocated surging while the total number of flood victims in Perak and Kelantan fell.

In SARAWAK, the number of flood victims in the Limbang division rose to 442 people from 99 families compared to 224 victims in the evening.

Sarawak National Security Council (MKN) assistant secretary, Salihin Annuar when contacted Sunday night said, in Kuching, the situation was almost the same as in the evening with 26 families in several districts in Kuching division still housed at relief centres.

He said in Mukah division, the number of victims evacuated fell to 58 people from 28 families who are now sheltered at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kuala Balingian relief centre.

Meanwhile, a survey showed areas such as Batu Kintang, Batu Kawa, Rantau Panjang, and Sungai Tengah here were under one metre of water even though there was no major evacuation at the moment.

In KELANTAN, the relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Temangan, Machang was closed when all 30 victims at the centre were allowed to return home.

A state Welfare Department spokesman said as at 8pm Sunday night, there were 354 victims from 74 families being housed at nine evacuation centres in Kuala Krai compared to 472 victims from 103 families at 12 relief centres this evening.

In PERAK, the total number of flood victims fell to 80 victims from 21 families compared to 158 people from 50 families in the evening.

A Perak MKN spokesman said as at tonight, two more relief centres were still operating in two districts, namely Perak Tengah and Hulu Perak.

The total number of victims in Perak dropped to 36 people while in Hulu Perak, there were 34 evacuees.
