TN50 Dialogue: 'Why speak rudely to PM Najib?' - Mat Over

KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran actor-comedian Sulaiman Yassin, better known as Mat Over, described his act of slapping film director Datuk David Teo on Wednesday, as rational.

Mat Over questioned David's alleged uncouth behaviour during a National Transformation 2050 (TN50) event at the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak official residence in Seri Perdana, Putrajaya citing the act as 'downright rude'.

“We are Malays. We have manners. We are speaking to the ‘head’ of the country. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib as the host, has invited us to pour out our hearts (on the industry) to him.
“Why the need to speak rudely to him as the host?", Mat Over told Astro AWANI when contacted, on Wednesday.

According to Mat Over, he decided to make peace with David on a professional basis.

He also said that he had the opportunity to apologise to Najib after the episode.

“I had apologised to Datuk Seri Najib. I told him that I don’t like individuals who failed to show respect to the Prime Minister,” he said.

On Wednesday night, a scuffle occurred during the TN50 program when Teo was slapped by Mat Over for being ‘rude’ in front of Najib.

The incident happened when Teo tried to ask a question the dialogue session.

After the security escorted the duo out of the venue after the incident, they were later brought in, where they shook hands and embraced in front of Najib.
