Comedian Steve Harvey got a considerable amount of flak early this year when he traveled to Trump Tower to meet with the president-elect. The TV and radio host even described the backlash as hurtful at the time and defended his decision by emphasizing that President Barack Obama had urged everyone to "sit down and talk," according to Harvey.

Well, apparently that initial talk with Trump actually bore fruit. TMZ caught up with Harvey in Los Angeles recently, and the comedian reported that the president had kept all his promises - to him - thus far.

"As far as doing what he promised me he'd do, he's doing it," he said. Harvey is working with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, whose secretary, Ben Carson, he first spoke with over the phone during that controversial meeting in January to "get some housing for underprivileged people." Harvey added that the project was "going really well. God willing, it will work out."

So is Harvey giving President Donald Trump an overall thumbs up? That's a different story.

"So you're happy about what Trump's been doing," asked the TMZ video journalist.

"I didn't say that," answered Harvey. "All I said was he's keeping his word to what he said he would do."
