Popular 80s singer Ben Nathan, who rose to fame with songs like 'Stanza Sepi Sekeping Hati', is now on the road to recovery and ready to meet his fans.

Yayasan Artis 1Malaysia (YA1M) president Datuk DJ Dave, the man who was responsible in taking Ben to undergo treatment at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL), said the latter was now feeling more spirited than ever and needed support from all quarters.

"He is 80 per cent recovered and still undergoing treatment at the hospital...even in the ward, he is very active and well-behaved.

"What people have been commenting negatively about him was not true. Once again, I would like to explain that he is not a drug addict. He is clean and I believe he is still very much the same person," he said.

Dave was speaking to reporters after an interview on 'Selamat Pagi Malaysia' programme by Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) here today.

Meanwhile, he said YA1M would organise a concert, 'Konsert Kasih & Harapan Ben Nathan', as a token of appreciation for the singer's fans.

"That is the second phase (of projects) that YA1M would embark upon after he (Ben) is deemed to be perfectly healthy to entertain his fans," added Dave.

He said the foundation would also take Ben to Jakarta, Indonesia to fulfil the singer's dream of re-recording his hit songs, as well as new ones.

Meanwhile, Ben, who also appeared on the show, expressed gratitude for the assistance he received and thanked his best friend, Dave, as well as the staff at HKL.

"I felt the joy and satisfaction when I performed today. I am following all the treatments so that I can make a comeback," he said.

Early this year, a video on Ben went viral on Facebook, which showed the singer dishevelled and wandering aimlessly on the streets of the federal capital. - BERNAMA
