"She was too special," said longtime music collaborator and promoter Ali Bakar referring Malaysia's legendary songstress Datuk Sharifah Aini.

"She was very loving and at times a spoilt brat too. That made her even more special," he said when met after the burial of Sharifah at the Bukit Kiara Muslim burial ground earlier today.

Ali was one of the hundreds of celebrity friends who came to pay their final tribute to Sharifah, who died at a private hospital here at 1.26 am this morning.

The singer was to have celebrated her 61st birthday last Wednesday.

Sharifah was admitted to the Intensive care unit of Damansara Specialist Hospital on Tuesday for breathing difficulties. In the last two years she has been treated for fibrosis of the lungs, also known as interstitial lung disease.
According to her doctor, Dato’ Dr Zainudin Md Zain, the condition causes scarring or hardening of the lungs. Her son, Aliff Omar Ali, close family members and friends were by her side.

Her remains was brought to Masjid Al-Taqwa at Taman Tun Dr Ismail in the morning for the final rites before she was buried at Bukit Kiara here at 12.17pm.

Sharifah was survived by her son, Aliff Omar Abu Bakar.
