Hollywood superstar Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has set a new Guinness World Records title for the most 'selfies' taken in three minutes, at the world premiere of his new film ‘San Andreas’.

The record was achieved at the red carpet of the event which was held at London's Odeon Leicester Square. Dwayne, a former WWE wrestling champion captured 105 selfies with excited movie fans.

Speaking before the challenge, he said: “I gotta tell you, I consider myself the selfie king and I'm going to break this record in London.”

Using his smartphone camera, Dwayne snapped photographs of himself alongside fans who lined up to be a part of the exciting record attempt. Guinness World Records adjudicator Mark McKinley ensured that selfie rules were followed.

The rules required full face and neck of participants being viewable and the images were focused, with recognisable faces and no blurring.

After taking his final snap, the 43-year-old actor admitted he was in pain from the attempt, but later celebrated his victory with yet another selfie while holding his official certificate.

The Instagram post read: "We just set a NEW GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for most self portraits (selfies) taken in record time (yup, a selfie world record exists and your arm gets a helluva workout). WORLD PREMIERE of SAN ANDREAS and rewriting the record books all in one night. #MicDropBoom #NewSelfieKing#LONDON #SanAndreasWorldTour MAY 29th."
