Composer and singer, Faizal Maas or "Ajai" is trending on social media, and thousands are petitioning online demanding for his removal as judging panel of the singing contest, Big Stage.

Ajai received public backlash following his strong criticism towards contestant Hafiz Zainal for his rendition of Fly Me to the Moon by Frank Sinatra on Sunday night.

He, however, seemed unperturbed by the backlash, saying 'he does not care'.

"People will hate me, I don't mind. All I want is for the viewers to be knowledgeable about music."

Ajai adds there is no reason for him to be angry towards the public, emphasising that it is his job to give the right feedback and judgment as a permanent jury.

"We do not want a situation where the viewership is high, but the quality of singing is not up to par," he said during the Big Stage press conference at the Putrajaya International Convention Center (PICC) after the show.

At the same time, Ajai said Big Stage is not just an entertainment program but a learning platform for talents.

"I am here to impart knowledge as I have worked with many people and I am experienced. It is my duty to share with the next generation so that they know (music) is a serious business." he said.
