The two actresses will be directed by the Spanish filmmaker, whose drama "Nobody Wants the Night" with Juliette Binoche is set to open the Berlinale on February 5.

For her next feature, director Isabel Coixet chose "This Man, This Woman," a script by "Eyes Wide Shut" scribe Frederic Raphael. The story centers on a man and a woman (Penelope Cruz) whose chance encounter on a plane brings back memories of the turbulent romance they once shared. Diane Kruger will play a woman whose affair with the man in question changed the course of the first couple's relationship.

The male lead has yet to be cast, and no production dates have been announced, though the project is said to be on the fast track. The casting announcement was relayed by Deadline ahead of the European Film Market, which takes place outside of the Berlinale this February.
