Music is not solely for entertainment. Indeed, it possesses the power to uplift and provide positive spirit.

This was the motivational boost for popular singers Faizal Tahir and Muadz Dzulkefly to participate in a charity concert to be held for Syrian and Palestinian refugees.

Aptly dubbed ‘1Moment4Them’, the concert will be held in Jordan on Aug 1. The group from Malaysia is expected to leave on July 27.

Faizal, the singer who popularised catchy tunes including Assalammualaikum, said it was an opportunity he could not resist.

“I often look for opportunities to help. I will make time for events like this.

“My main mission there is to inform those in the refugees camp that people still care about them. I want to give hope to these people,” he said when met at Astro AWANI, today.

Besides Muadz, Faizal will be accompanied by Aizat Amdan, Noh Salleh and his wife-performer, Mizz Nina.

“Mizz Nina will not be singing but there will be a sharing session.

“With the other performers, I've to sit down and talk to them if we will be performing as a group or solo.

“If solo, I would probably sing a mix of my own songs as well as songs by Yusuf Islam or Maher Zain with my own style. We do not want to sing sad songs there,” said Faizal.

This view was echoed by Muadz, who said he aims to bring positive spirit to Jordan.

“The people there are already struggling with their life, so just bring positive spirits only. That's why I want to bring a message of hope, love and faith,” he added.

Muadz is expected to perform a series of Arabic songs as well as some cover songs.

“I'm very excited by this opportunity. I have performed at a charity concert before but this time, I have the opportunity to meet them in person.

“I do not have to think long to agree to participate in this concert,” he said.

Founder and project manager Nur Fatiha Shuib, who makes up Fatiha Shuib and Friends said the overwhelming excitement is indescribable especially with the presence of big names in the local showbiz to show their benevolence for the good cause.

Nur Fatiha said the purpose of the mission is to collect funds to assist the Palestinian and Syrian refugees.

"We will fulfill our main objectives, which is to provide assistance to fulfill the refugees’ who are enduring harsh winter conditions, educational materials and humanity bonding.

"We are targeting to collect RM70,000 which we hope to raise from ticket sales. We also expect to attract 1,000 concertgoers. We also have items up for bidding," said Nur Fatiha.

For Malaysian fans, don't fret. Nur Fatiha said plan is underway for the concert to be made available via online streaming.

“We will also record our activities in Syria so that all are made transparent. Malaysians will also get to see that their aids are being properly channelled to the locals there,” she said.
