TAIWANESE model Heidi Yeh has filed a lawsuit against advertising agency J. Walter Thompson (JWT), healthcare company Simple Beauty, and a Taiwanese talent agency over a print campaign which went viral.

Heidi, who claims that the meme has cost her three years of professional work, held a press conference last week to explain the decision and gain support.

As spotted on Inquisitr, the meme consists of the aforementioned image and a caption, usually related to cosmetic surgery.

According to Heidi, she had lost prospective employers because she is associated with having undergone plastic surgery to secure work and also a marriage.

Heidi states that the image was meant to be used in print ads only and was not supposed to be circulated online.

Model files lawsuit after career is ruined by popular meme

Last year, it was turned into a popular meme which spread on social media while inspiring many write-ups on cosmetic procedure.

Taiwanese healthcare company Simple Beauty launched the photo into infamy with the tagline “the only thing you’ll ever have to worry about is how to tell the kids”.

However, city blog Shangaiist reports that JWT is potentially counter-suing, stating that Heidi’s contract with the agency provides JWT full copyright of the image.

They also blasted the lawsuit for being based on “untrue allegations”.
