Locally made film “The Journey” has managed to rake in RM10.7 million, making it one of the highest grossing Malaysian movies to date.

The Malaysian Chinese film was specifically released on January 30 to coincide with the Chinese Lunar New Year.

Other Malaysian films that have hit the roof are “KL Gangster” with RM11.74 million and “Ombak Rindu” with RM10.9 million in 2011.

“The Journey” is directed by Chiu Keng Guan and tells the story of conservative Uncle Chuan who is forced to accept an English son-in-law.

This film is produced by Astro Shaw and Woohoo pictures starring Frankie Lee, Joanne Yew, and Ben Andrew Pfeiffer, and will continue its screening in cinemas for two more weeks.
