For five days beginning Aug 19, seven critically-acclaimed films from ASEAN-member countries, including the award-winning "Jagat" from Malaysia will be screened during the upcoming SAC ASEAN Film Festival 2017.

Tamil-language "Jagat", which won the Best Malaysian Film award during last year's Malaysian Film Festival (FFM) was selected along with films from Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines.

"Jagat" was directed by Shanjhey Kumar Perumal, who also bagged the Best New Director award during FFM 2016.

The SAC ASEAN Film Festival will be held at Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Anthrophology Centre at Bangkok's Taling Chan district Soi Borommaratchachonnani 39.

The five-day festival will open with the screening of Vietnam's film "Forever Yours", followed by "Long Time Ago", a film about a typical Singapore's family during pre-independence period which was directed by Jack Neo.

Other films slated for screening during the festival are Philippines' "Ma Rosa", a film about Manila's drug abuse and poverty which was directed by award winning director, Brillante Mendoza while "Dream Land" is from Cambodia.

Indonesian films will be represented by "Ziarah, Tales of the Otherworlds" and Myanmar by "The Road to Mandalay".
