American supernatural horror films franchise since 2010, Insidious, presents its third installment called Insidious: Chapter 3.

Directed and written by the creator of Saw, Australian screenwriter, producer, director and actor, Leigh Whannel, minus his friend, James Wan who directed both first and second Insidious, this time, this movie feels more like a stand-alone because it functions as a prequel to the previous two.

Chapter three introduces familiar faces of the previous films - Lin Shayne as the famous demon buster, Elise Rainier along with Specs and Tucker played by Leigh Whannel and Angus Samson in the previous films.

The scariest chapter goes back to the beginning indeed. Set prior to the haunting of the Lambert family, it tells a story of a young girl, Quinn Brenner, played by Stefanie Scott who has been a target of the otherworld’s deadly supernatural entity.

Quinn who has lost her mother went to see psychic, Elise Rainier, to seek her help to contact her mother in the realms of the dead. The haunting began when Quinn got into an accident.

After a series of brutal accidents and supernatural sightings, Quinns father played by Dermot Mulroney, Sean Brenner got together Specs and Tucker, with Elise who went into ‘The Further’ to save his daughter from the demon.

Whannell kept the plot simple this time but one can expect the same kind of chill and some (or more) seat-jolting scare watching this third chapter of Insidious.
