MALAYSIAN model, Shikin Gomez’s dreams to bring home Asia’s Next Top Model (AsNTM) title was shattered after Filipino participants, Maureen Wroblewitz was crowned as the fifth season champion last night.

As a top 3 finalist, Shikin however walked away as the Face of Zalora and became the newest SUBARU Ambassador for the region.

“I am very happy for Maureen! She has shown tremendous growth in the competition and is so deserving of the win. The entire experience has been such a wonderful journey and I look forward to more opportunities as I continue my career in modelling,” she said to the press.

The Filipino-German model bagged the title after beating Shikin and Mihn Tu Nguyen from Vietnam.

Maureen will be driving home a brand new SUBARU Impreza, a modelling contract with Storm Model Management in London and a fashion cover and spread in Nylon Singapore.

However, the 18 year old model's victory suprised many of AsNTM fans as she has no experience in the modelling world and is often labeled as 'pretty face with no skills’.

Netizens from Philippines however expressed their support for Maureen as she is the first Filipino to win the title.

For some, Shikin or Minh Tu are more deserving for the title.
