Famous comedian Harun Salim Bachik died today, believed to be due to breathing difficulties during a pit-stop at the North-South Highway's Gunung Semanggol (southbound) R&R in Perak. He was 56.

The former Seniman president was reportedly on his way home from Penang with his family.

Director Ghaz Abu Bakar, who was shocked by the news, said Allahyarham was to begin filming “Angin Cinta”, a movie directed by Ghaz, tomorrow.




Meanwhile, actor and comedian Afdlin Shauki in his Facebook uploaded his final photo with Allahyarham that was taken last Friday. Afdlin and Harun had previously teamed up to form “Boboi”, a comedy duo that took part in the popular comedy show Maharaja Lawak Mega.

Harun, whose real name is Haron Aminar Rashid Salim, first shot to fame when he acted in the drama series “Rumah Kedai” that was shown on TV3 in the early 1990s.

Allahyarham was also known for his role as the discipline teacher ‘Mohd Salleh’ in “Oh My English” that is aired on Astro CERIA.

Acting was not his only passion; Allahyarham was an avid singer as well. In 1996, he had an album out titled “Belilah”. The most popular song in the album was “Banjir”.

Among his other films include “Man Laksa”, “Baik Punya Cilok” and “Apa Kata Hati”.

Allahyarham was the son to a 1950s actor, the late Salim Bachik.
