Selangor today dissolved its state legislative assembly for elections, the first of the four opposition states to do so, while Kedah, Penang and Kelantan are to dissolve their assemblies by tomorrow at the latest.
Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, signed the instrument of dissolution at 2.30 pm during the audience he had with the ruler at Istana Alam Shah here.

Abdul Khalid said Speaker Datuk Teng Chang Khim would send the notification on the dissolution to the Election Commission office today.

Meanwhile, at a news conference at the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) headquarters in Tropicana, Petaling Jaya, Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat, Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng confirmed that the assemblies of their states would be dissolved tomorrow.

They had attended a meeting of the opposition pact leaders there. Opposition Leader and PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was also present.
