Barisan Nasional (BN) need to conduct an in-depth study to know why the support from Chinese voters had fluctuated during the 13th General Election (GE13) said Muar MP Datuk Razali Ibrahim, today.

"The right to vote and choose a candidate depends on the individual but BN must study the reasons for failing to convince the community effectively in the GE13," he said.

Setiawangsa MP Datuk Ahmad Fauzi Zahari said Umno and BN need to understand the message from the Chinese voters in GE13.

He said the people must give the party leaders time to find the reason and a solution to such problems so as to reinforce the ties.

Jeli MP Datuk Seri Mustapha Mohamed said the study would help BN identify the reasons for losing a number of seats, including a number of top BN leaders.

"Looking at the voting pattern in a number of constituencies, Chinese voters were generally aligned to DAP and we need to find out why. That was why senior politicians like Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai (MCA Deputy President) could only manage a slim victory," he said.

Meanwhile, Liow said the party accepts the results of the GE13 with an open heart and would conduct a post-mortem soon.
