The ringgit opened higher against the greenback today on better buying demand.

At 9.28 am, the ringgit was quoted at 4.3630/3700 against the US dollar from the 4.3675/3775 recorded on Monday.

A dealer said demand momentum picked up after the local market was closed yesterday due to the Deepavali holiday.

Meanwhile, the ringgit traded mostly lower against other major currencies.

It depreciated against the Singapore dollar to 3.0738/0792 from 3.0645/0730 and eased against the yen to 3.5515/5586 from 3.5379/5463.

It weakened against the British pound to 6.6073/6192 from 6.5844/6013, but rose against the euro to 4.6872/6951 from 4.7021/7137.
