Qatar Airways won the 'Airline of the Year' award at the 2017 Air Transport Awards, for its innovation, service, hospitality and leading product design, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

The awards ceremony, held at the Latrou Residence in Ekali, Greece, and attended by the world's leading airline executives, recognised Qatar Airways as the world's leading airline.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker said:

"We take immense pride in driving our airline to be the best in the industry and to deliver our passengers an unprecedented on-board experience."

He said that receiving acknowledgement from the loyal passengers who chose to fly with was the highest honour and will push the airline to work even harder.

Qatar Airways, which is celebrating it 20th Anniversary, is now serving over 150 destinations.

Qatar Airways was awarded World's Best Business Class, Best Business Class Airline Lounge and Best Airline Staff Service in the Middle East at the 2016 World Airline Awards managed by international air transport rating organisation Skytrax.
