Pos Malaysia Bhd has urged all small business entrepreneurs particularly those involved in e-commerce, to register themselves as contract customers in order to enjoy benefits and discounts while making their deliveries.

Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh said from May to June, Pos Laju experienced an encouraging 30 million in walk-in customers for its courier service with deliveries almost doubled to 400,000 parcels a day.

"When these online entrepreneurs register with us, we can offer them the preferred rates and discounts, depending on the volume of parcels, as well as, free pick-up service from their homes.

"To top it all, there is also credit services if they meet certain criteria that we have pre-determined," Mohd Shukrie told a press conference after a prize giving ceremony for the 'Hantar & Menang Campaign 2016' here today.

He said Pos Malaysia also planned to set-up 10 EziDrive-Thru service centres in the Klang Valley by year-end for the convenience of customers who want to send their parcels without getting out of their vehicles.

"By end of this month, we will have three centres namely in Bandar Baru Bangi, Putrajaya and Kelana Jaya.

"We also hope e-commerce entrepreneurs, nationwide, can give us feedback on the drive-through service for us to plan better ahead," said Mohd Shukrie.

He said the cost of setting up each drive-through centre ranged between RM100,000 and RM120,000.

As Pos Laju's business expanded about 20 per cent annually, it is currently in the midst of rationalising its delivery plans where postmen are also required to deliver Pos Laju parcels, he said.

"Currently, 20-30 per cent of our postmen are delivering Pos Laju parcels and we are planning to recruit more of them to meet demand," he added.

At the event, 19 lucky winners walked away with gold bars worth over RM160,000.

The Xtravaganza grand prize winner Farah Nabilah Abdullah from Pahang won 50 grammes of 999.9 gold bar, as well as, one gramme of Pos Malaysia Ar-Rahnu 999.9 Gold Wafer and a one-year Pos Insurance 1Malaysia coverage.

The campaign, opened to all "On Demand Pick-up" customers and the general public, ran from March 1 until May 31, 2016.
