Pos Malaysia Bhd is expanding its presence in the e-commerce space with the signing of an exclusive logistics partnership between its courier arm, Pos Laju, and online shopping platform operator, PG Mall Sdn Bhd.

Pos Malaysia CEO, Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh said, the partnership was expected to rake in RM500,000 in revenue in the first year of operations with an average 300 item deliveries per day.

"The strategic partnership is a significant part of our long-standing strategy to be an exclusive e-commerce logistics service provider not only in Southeast Asia but globally," he told reporters after signing the partnership on behalf of Pos Laju here today.

PG Mall was represented by its executive chairman, Datuk Louis Ng.

Mohd Shukrie said the partnership would enable Pos Laju to serve more than 5,300 PG Mall's active merchants.

"Apart from delivery services, Pos Laju is ready to offer other e-commerce-related services such as cash on delivery, credit card on delivery, special handling of bulky items as well as e-fulfilment services," he said.

Currently, e-commerce related services is contributing about 40 percent to Pos Malaysia's revenue while for Pos Laju, it contributed about 80 percent.

Meanwhile, on the 2018 Budget, Mohd Shukrie expected the government to announce more incentives for e-commerce under the Digital Free Trade Zone. -- Bernama
