Perwira Niaga Malaysia (PERNAMA) will absorb the six per cent Goods and Services Tax (GST) for selected retail purchases by Armed Forces staff.

PERNAMA is wholly-owned by the Malaysian Armed Forces Board (LTAT) and undertakes retail activities at military camps nationwide.

In a statement, PERNAMA said more than 4,000 items had been listed to benefit members of the Armed Forces, whether active or retired.

"This initiative is being taken to help reduce the burden of staff in meeting their daily needs.

"It is also part of PERNAMA'S corporate responsibility in assisting members of the Armed Forces and their families to attain a better quality of life," it added.

Apart from the retail services, PERNAMA has 74 shops throughout Malaysia offering among others, facilities as food courts, laundry services and hair dressing salons.
