Nextbit is promising to fix dying smartphone battery woes with a new piece of software, reports The Verge.

The company claims that when it launches its next operating system later this year, it will include a battery booster that works by optimizing users' phone habits and screen time.

Nextbit has not given specifics as to how the software will operate, but hopes to find another way of charging up batteries without incorporating larger capacity units into the phones.

The new software will be available for Nextbit's Robin smartphone starting in the fall.
