Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is optimistic with the opening of World Bank's Research and Knowledge Hub in Sasana Kijang, Malaysia.

He expressed his confidence that the bank's presence here in Malaysia, with its international standing and expertise, will bring many benefits to Malaysians.

One of the main benefit is providing job opportunities for talented Malaysians, through a program which will have selected individuals from the public sector seconded to the World Bank Office in Malaysia.

He said this arrangement will be mutually beneficial and an enriching experience for both parties.

Najib added that the establishment of this office reinforces the fact that Malaysia is a favourite location for international organisations and businesses in the region.

"This gives us extra confidence to continue and demonstrate the confidence that the world has in the soundness of our policies," Najib said.

Meanwhile, Najib said that the World Bank Office in Malaysia primarily focuses on two areas.

Firstly on development policy, both regionally and globally and secondly, Enterprise Analysis and Global Indicators, which will contribute to the World Bank Doing Business Report.

It will also provide operational support for dialogues on enterprise and commerce in Southeast Asia, East Asia and South Asia.
