Sepang International Circuit chairman, Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir has resigned from the Board of Directors effective immediately, after serving 13 years since 2003.

Mokhzani in a statement today said that it was an honour and privilege to be part of the SIC team.

"I have seen events evolve from amateur races to professional world class events, and I'm proud to have witnessed Malaysians rise to the occasion to give the international talents a flight for the money," said Mokhzani.

"I have seen SIC catalysing change in Malaysian and regional motorsports culture, creating a new culture of professionalism and safety."

He also said that SIC has been a training ground that created talents in both two wheel and four wheel racing, not only those who race, but also those who play a supporting role in the sport.

SIC chief executive officer, Datuk Razlan Razali said it was an honour and privilege for me to work under the guidance of Mokhzani during his tenure as chairman of SIC.

"His guidance and advice are the among the experiences I will treasure most throughout my tenure as CEO," said Razlan.

"Mokhzani gave SIC the vision that shaped our work in growing and developing SIC to what it is today. We thank him greatly for his contribution to SIC, the major events held at SIC and to Malaysian motorsports.
