Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) aims to boost its Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) sales by 20 per cent to RM100 million at the nine-day Malaysian Unit Trust Week (MSAM) 2015 here from RM86 million in Kota Baharu last year.

Maybank head of community financial services Malaysia Hamirullah Boorhan said besides providing facilities for the public to invest or open ASB accounts, Maybank is also targeting to sell 2,000 credit and debit cards, and 2,000 takaful and insurance 2,000 policies at the event.

He said the target is achievable based on the number of visitors dropping by at the Maybank's booth to make enquiries, especially on ASB since Sunday morning.

Speaking to reporters at the MSAM 2015, he said the bank is also promoting banking innovations, especially internet banking and mobile applications.

"We are introducing two new mobile applications to visitors, namely Maybank Property Finder to help locate properties on sales and Maybank Treats to provide information on sales promotion," he said.

Organised by Permodalan Malaysia Bhd (PNB), the 16th MSAM themed 'Pelaburan 360 PNB' from April 19-27 will be launched tomorrow by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Hamirullah aid Maybank is also extending vehicle hire-purchase financing for PNB's business partners like UMW and Perodua.

Various educational and interactive activities have been lined up for the event to provide visitors with better perspectives on unit trusts, apart from an exhibition put up by 40 participants.

Maybank is one of the premier partners of the MSAM 2015 along with UMW Holdings Bhd, Sime Darby Bhd, SP Setia Bhd, and I&P Group Sdn Bhd.
