The Malaysian Association of Tour & Travel Agents Fair's (Matta) 2015 carnival recorded sales of RM150 million, up five per cent compared with last year.

Its organising chairman, S. Jayakumar, said last year the carnival raked in sales of RM135 million.

"The number of visitors also increased to about 90,000 compared with 86,000 last year," he told a media briefing here today.

He said the higher sales were beyond expectations.

"Maybe it has to do with the Goods and Services Tax. Many people want to get the packages before the implementation of GST from April 1," he said.

The three-day MATTA fair started from March 13 at Putra World Trade Centre.
