Malindo Air on Saturday launched daily services from Kuala Lumpur to Colombo, Sri Lanka, the airline's ninth country in its international network expansion.

CEO Chandran Rama Muthy said Colombo as a new destination for Malindo marks another profound milestone and the launch of today’s inaugural flight to Colombo highlights a new era in the young airline’s journey.

"Whilst it’s true that as we continue to expand, we are taking more people on more aircraft to more places, we have to continue our efforts to provide the best service for our customers," he said in a statement.

Introductory fares for the new route start at RM339 for Economy Class and RM579 for Business Class one-way all-inclusive, and include perks such as free baggage allowance, in-flight entertainment, a meal and light refreshments.

He also said Malindo Air is working very closely with Tourism Malaysia tp promote a wide variety of attractions in Sri Lanka, including the F1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix, 1Malaysia Mega Sales, Borneo Jazz Festival, LEGO Land theme park as well as exciting eco-tourism spots like Belum Forest, Mulu Caves and Mount Kinabalu.
