Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd's (MAHB) network of airports recorded 10.6 million passenger movements in May 2017, a 6.3 per cent growth from the same period last year.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, MAHB said its international passenger traffic rose 12.6 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) to 4.8 million passengers in May 2017, while domestic traffic grew 1.5 per cent y-o-y to 5.8 million.

On a last-twelve-month basis, the MAHB network of airports registered 7.1 per cent growth with 122.9 million passengers, the highest traffic handled for 12 months.

MAHB said May traffic for the Kuala Lumpur International Airport's Main Terminal grew 12.7 per cent y-o-y while traffic for the KLIA2 increased 11.6 per cent y-o-y.

"Overall, aircraft movements increased 0.7 per cent, with international movements rose 4.8 per cent, while domestic decreased 1.6 per cent over May 2016," it said.

On the local front, MAHB said airports in Malaysia registered 7.9 million passengers in May 2017, an 8.5 per cent y-o-y growth over May 2016

"The overall average load factors also improved to 75.1 per cent in May 2017, a rise of 1.5 percentage points compared with the same month last year," it added.
