St Regis Hotels and Resorts, part of the Starwood Hotels and Resorts, on Wednesday announced the arrival of the iconic luxury brand into Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark, with the opening of the St Regis Langkawi.

"We are thrilled to expand our portfolio in Southeast Asia with an extraordinary brand debut in Malaysia - one of the most dynamic countries in the world," St Regis Hotels and Resorts Global Brand Leader Jim Petrus said in a statement.

Owned by Integrated Nautical Resort Sdn Bhd (INR), the resort is a joint venture between Indonesia's Rajawali Group and the Government of Malaysia's Ministry of Finance, the statement said.

According to Rajawali Group's Senior Vice President Hotel Operations, Erhard Hotter, the St Regis Langkawi was the first luxury resort to open within the last decade in Langkawi.

"We look forward to a long-term collaboration with Starwood Hotels and Resorts," he added.

According to the statement the St. Regis Langkawi is set to redefine luxury hospitality on the island, from the resort's lush, secluded location, to the iconic St Regis Butler Service, which provides guests with beyond expectation experiences, the statement said.

It is the first all-suite luxury resort in the archipelago, offering four private overwater villas and 85 luxuriously-appointed suites.

Each suite is distinct in design with bold accent hues and imaginative paintings by local artists.

Rajawali Property Group is the real estate investment and development arm of Rajawali Group, one of Indonesia's largest investors.
