FELCRA Livestock & Agri Products Sdn Bhd (FLAP) is optimistic of selling RM25 million worth of canned seafood, under the Yuya brand, annually, both at home and abroad.

FELCRA Chief Executive Officer Zulkarnain Md Eusope said the company also aimed to export three container load of the products, each month, in the first and second quarters of 2017.

"We have potential clients and we are in the midst of negotiating the pricing for these products," he told reporters after the launch of seven Yuya seafood products by FELCRA Chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin here today.

FLAP has made inroads into China and Saudi Arabia for the company's other products and was currently collaborating with Sumitomo and Mitsui to explore the Japanese market for halal products.

"Several Japanese companies have expressed interest to import our halal products and we will contact them soon," Zulkarnain added.

FELCRA Livestock has established strategic cooperation with three companies in the Philippines and an Indonesian company which would pave the way for the company's products to penetrate Islamic nations.

FLAP also planned to concentrate on supermarkets and retail outlets in Malaysia to promote its products.

Zulkarnain also disclosed that FELCRA would soon introduce a stingless bee health product, the raw material for which would be supplied by FELCRA Bhd settlers, under a specific brand name which is being developed.

The seven Yuya canned seafood products would retail for a promotional price of RM4.30 each at the 11-day Agriculture, Horticulture and Agro Tourism Exhibition Malaysia 2016 (Maha 2016), which began today, and via 'Kedai Hemat' outlets, nationwide. - BERNAMA
