Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) will cost RM55 for a one way trip from KL Sentral to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and to KLIA2 effective from January 1 next year, the first revision since the launching of ERL in 2002.

ERL Chief Executive Officer Noormah Mohd Noor said this is a discounted rate as ERL has been authorised to revise the fare to RM64 based on the terms of the concession agreement.

"We structured our new fares with our customers in mind. We recognise that the rising cost of living is a challenge, and are working on ways to make fare options available to our passengers," she said in a statement.

She said the revision was approved by the government through the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) in accordance with Section 120 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010.

Passengers buying ticket via online, mobile apps and from ERL's kiosk enjoy 10 per cent off, while those using Touch 'n Go card will save 10 per cent during promotion period.

For TravelCard users, they will enjoy discounts of 17 per cent - 83 per cent with an average discount of 45 per cent, while for senior citizens and disabled persons they will continue to receive a discount of 30 per cent on one-way fares on the KLIA Transit, she said.

She said for those purchasing return tickets between KL Sentral and KLIA/KLIA 2 will save RM10.

Noormah said the fare revision ensured that ERL could continue to operate and maintain its services at an optimum level, and cater to its growing ridership.

"By May next year, six new trains will be progressively delivered which will increase ERL's capacity by 50 per cent," she said.

The public can view the new fare structure on www.KLIAekpres.com and notice boards at ERL stations.
