Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad (Astro) won a Special Mention Award for PwC’s Trustworthy Organisation Model award, in the audit firm’s 2017 Building Trust Awards held on Wednesday.

Speaking at the award ceremony, the Group CEO of Astro, Datuk Rohana Rozhan said Astro is a long term value creation brand.

"There are no shortcuts (to success). Our (business) pillars remain – content, experience, customers – and that we embrace that we have a big circle of influence,” she said.

Rohana also highlighted the importance of earning the public’s trust.

“It is a responsibility for Astro to deliver the best, and we need to earn the right to tell our people’s stories” she added.

PwC announced the winning companies and Finalists of PwC’s Building Trust Awards 2017 at an Awards Ceremony attended by industry captains and leaders of Malaysia’s top public-listed companies.

Sime Darby Berhad was declared the overall winner for its efforts in building trust while Axiata Group Berhad was named as Runner-Up to the overall award.

The Building Trust Awards assesses how companies perform in their corporate reporting as well as how they are perceived in the eyes of their stakeholders.

Other categories are PwC's Integrated Reporting / Framework benchmarking analysis which was won by Sime Darby Berhad, and PwC Malaysia's "Trust in Business: Public poll" which was awarded to Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad.

The final winners were selected by PwC’s independent and international panel of Judges, including Sir David Tweedie, Chairman, Board of Trustees, International Valuation Standards Council; Tan Sri Dr. Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Former Governor, Central Bank of Malaysia; Tan Sri Dr. Jemilah Mahmood, Under Secretary General, Partnerships, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies; Faris Hadad-Zervos, Country Manager and Head, World Bank Group Global Knowledge and Research Hub in Malaysia.
