Business on the 11street online marketplace has not been directly affected by the Goods and Services Tax (GST), says chief executive officer Hoseok Kim.

"Consumers are still keen to shop online even after the tax is implemented.

"There is also a similar tax in Korea, so there would not be much difference for 11street in Malaysia," he told reporters after the Malaysian launch of the e-mall at NU Central Shopping Centre here today attended by brand ambassadors South Korean actor Lee Min Ho and local actress Emily Chan.

Celcom CEO Datuk Sri Shazalli Ramly said the e-mall, operated under Celcom Planet Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between Celcom and Korean company SK Planet, is making them leaders in the e-commerce market in Malaysia.

Celcom has invested RM35 million in the venture, which aims to have 11,000 participating sellers.

11street, established in South Korea in 2008, currently has 400,000 sellers serving over 30 million consumers worldwide, offering products ranging from fashion to electronics, health & beauty to groceries and leisure & sports.
