A pall of gloom too descended on the national contingent as 20 athletes, officials and Malaysian media personnel gathered at the Youth Olympic Games village and observed a minute of silence for victims of
the MH7 tragedy in conjunction with Malaysia's Day of National Mourning today.

Head of the national contingent, Wong Pei Tty, said all YOG athletes and officials in Nanjing were also saddened on the occasion of the arrival of the remains of 20 MH17 crash victims at the Bunga Raya Complex, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

Wong extended the contingent's condolences to the families of the victims.

The team got to watch live the arrival of the remains on the computer screens at the media centre of the Games village.

A special aircraft bearing the remains of the first 20 Malaysian victims left Amsterdam's Schipol airport at 9.40pm (Malaysian time) yesterday on a 12-hour journey to Kuala Lumpur.

Fourty-three Malaysians were killed in the tragedy when flight MH17 en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur went down in Ukraine.
