The Pakatan Rakyat presidential council today will discuss the fate of Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and the issue of his successor.

PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had on Monday announced that his party had named its president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the successor.

Anwar said the proposal will be tabled at the council meeting today.

However, PAS is adamant that Abdul Khalid is retained as the Selangor MB.

PAS Selangor commissioner Iskandar Samad said PAS had never agreed to replace Abdul Khalid with Dr Wan Azizah.

PAS central had held a meeting until the early hours of today to discuss the issue of Dr Wan Azizah replacing Abdul Khalid.

Meanwhile, Abdul Khalid had reminded the PKR to use the right channels in replacing him with Dr Wan Azizah.

He said the party should not dismiss the enactment and state constitution.

“I believe those involved in this effort must follow due process to achieve what they aspire. Until then, I will continue to carry out my responsibilities and duties as per the mandate given to be by the people of Selangor,” he said.

Meanwhile, Selangor Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Noh Omar said Anwar does not understand the state’s constitution.

He said MB can only be replaced if he voluntarily resigns or through a vote of no confidence in state assembly.
