Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) is to have a discussion with Dr Roland Chia who had expressed over Facebook his desire to resign as the party's state assemblyman for Inanam in Sabah.

PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali said the party would have the discussion with Dr Chia, 44, after he returned from holiday abroad.

"We will have the discussion after he returns," he told reporters after chairing a meeting of the Selangor Economic Action Council here, Thursday.

Mohamed Azman denied having received Dr Chia's letter of resignation.

A recent post on the Facebook account of Dr Chia stated his desire to resign for health reasons. He also thanked his constituents and the PKR leadership for support during the 17 months that he has been an elected representative.

In the 13th General Election last year, Dr Chia obtained 8,926 votes to beat by a majority of 3,202 votes Eric Majimbun of the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP), who garnered 5,003 votes, and Joseph Paulus Lantip of the Barisan Nasional, who secured 5,724 votes.
