Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS) chief executive, Wan Saiful Wan Jan, today expressed his disappointment with PAS Muktamar, which he labelled as ‘the most waste of time in recent history.’

He said this is because the party failed to discuss important and serious matters involving the country’s problems such as the Goods and Service Tax (GST) and Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA).

"Congratulations. Hadi Awang managed to produce the most waste of time in recent history," said Wan Saiful on his Facebook page.

Wan Saiful said the Muktamar this time discussed petty matters such as internal issues, as if it had forgotten to talk about more pertinent issues.

“This all happens under the leadership of PAS president Datuk Seri Haji Hadi Awang.

“To date, Hadi has been a good leader but since a few months ago, it seems like he has reached the maximum of his ability.

“Hadi has failed PAS as a party that is a serious alternative. A President who failed to outline a vision for the party, but the temperament he brought to PAS is what is seen today. A failure. Weak. Soft,” he said.

He said, to move forward, people like Hadi and his supporters need to be replaced with those who have a better vision and understanding of modern politics.

"As I have said since 2011, Hadi should not defend his position and should announce that he will be stepping down from now to prepare PAS for a power transition,” he said.
