Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali said he will be holding a 'pow-wow' with the top leadership of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) on calls by a non-governmental organisation for PAS to quit the opposition coalition.

He said PAS's position in PR was an internal matter and it was for the parties in it to deliberate on it.

"That is something we will discuss within the coalition. My responsibility now is to strengthen PR," Mohamed Azmin told reporters in Shah Alam, Tuesday.

An NGO called Lensa Anak Muda Malaysia (Lensa) on Tuesday handed PAS a memorandum asking it to leave PR citing that its leaders had caused tension in the coalition. The other parties in PR are DAP and PKR.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Azmin said the state government would be taking steps to tackle the problem of flash floods in Kajang.

In a related development, Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad said the party had yet to decide whether the accept the deputy speaker post in the state assembly.

"We have until Nov 24 to make decision (the state assembly reconvenes on Nov 24. If we accept we will submit a few names to PAS's top leadership for consideration," he said when contacted by BERNAMA.

Following the appointment of Mohamed Azmin as the new menteri besar of Selangor, PAS's quota of state executive councillors was dropped from four to three but the deputy speaker's post was offered to the party.
