The Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) has announced 11 young candidates to contest in the state assembly seat in the upcoming general election.

The 11 are among the 35 new faces nominated to grab the state seats.

Perak BN announced 10 women candidates, eight of who will be contesting in state seats.

“The candidates are from all walks of life including professionals like doctors, lawyers, academicians, NGO leaders, youth and women,” said BN Chairman Perak Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir when announcing the candidate list here.

Zambry will be defending the Pangkor state and is expected to go against PKR’s Saifullah Mohd. Zulkifli, 27 .

Dalam pada itu, empat menteri kabinet dalam kerajaan yang lalu kekal dalam senarai calon BN di Perak Daniel Wa Wai How (Keranji), Mua'amar Ghadafi Jamal Jamaludin (Parit Buntar), Salbiah Mohamed (Temengor) dan Ting Tai Fook (Sitiawan).

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk S.K. Devamany is set to contest in Sungai Siput while deputy home minister Datuk Lee Chee Leong will defend his Kampar seat.

Deputy Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk M.Saravanan will defend the Tapah seat.

Zambry said PPP President Datuk M. Kayveas has been asked to contest in Pasir Bedamar seat as the shortlisted candidate did not meet the criteria set by the party.

Meanwhile, on the womes’s side, Datuk Hamidah Osman will be contesting in Sungai Rapat, Datuk Rusnah Kassim will be contesting in Behrang and Datuk Siti Salmah Mat Jusak will be contesting in Lubuk Merbau.

The announcement also will see all state Exco members contesting except for Datuk Ramly Zahari.

Those who were dropped include Datuk Seri Raja Ahmad Zainuddin Raja Omar (Kubu Gajah), Datuk Ahamed Pakeh Adam (Lintang), Datuk Hamdi Abu Bakar (Pengkalan Baharu), Datuk Nadzri Ismail (Manjoi) and Dr Wan Norashikin Wan Noordin (Kampong Gajah).

Zambry said the party understands that some names did not make it to the candidates list but he reminded members that not everything that they wish for will be granted.

Zambry said with the candidate announcement, the 2008 bitter incident would not repeat itself.

BN formed a government in Perak after a constitutional crisis that saw the state falling to the hands of Pakatan Rakyat.

Pakatan Rakyat held on to the power for 11 months after which three of their members declared to become independent.

On May 10, 2010 the Federal Court decided that Zambry is the legal Menteri Besar.
